POSITION SUMMARY:
As our newest Senior Scientist, you will report to the Director of Technology and work on developing lithium-ion cathode processing technologies. Your role will involve characterizing materials and testing battery cells within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technologists. Additionally, you will focus on developing and characterizing high-capacity, high-voltage cathode materials, tackling multi-variable problems in synthesis, structural characterization, electrochemical characterization, and scaled-up production for commercial use. You will also contribute to the commercialization efforts by controlling and fine-tuning the nanostructure and interfacial chemistries of cathode materials to ensure optimal electrochemical performance and scalability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume management responsibilities of projects and leading junior team members.
- Design and lead execution of effective and thoughtful test plans.
- Synthesize cathode materials including such as LFP.
- Work- with other scientists to synthesize materials and establish process/structure/function relationships.
- Work with engineers, technicians, and company leaders to scale and commercialize Nano One technology.
- Look for ways to create IP in collaboration with others.
- Draft proposals, writes technical reports and presents progress on milestones.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, or inorganic chemistry (post doc work is considered as experience)
- Experience in wet chemical and/or solid-state synthesis and analysis of nanostructured materials
- Hands-on experience with tools, laboratory apparatus, and analytical equipment.
- Experience with electrochemistry and analytical tools (i.e., XRD and Rietveld refinement, TGA/DSC, SEM, PSA, EDX, FTIR, CV, ICP-OES, CHN analyzers).
- Strong communication skills in managing projects and cross-functional activities.
- Excellent skills in problem-solving and in data-driven decision-making.
- Industry or equivalent hands-on experience with Li-ion energy storage technologies is a plus.

Compensation
$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
