POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Technician supports the production and testing of cathode materials, working closely with the Technical Operations team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This role is primarily focused on pilot plant manufacturing activities and equipment operation, with periodic support provided to materials characterization, and coin cell fabrication work as needed. The position plays a key role in meeting productivity, quality, and safety objectives during pilot-scale operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support pilot plant operations for the scale-up and production of cathode materials, including reaction set-up, synthesis, sampling, and material processing.
- Operate, monitor, clean, and prepare pilot plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production.
- Safely handle, transfer, and store hazardous chemicals in accordance with safety protocols and SOPs.
- Perform routine physical and chemical characterization of materials as needed to support manufacturing and quality objectives using established analytical techniques (e.g. XRD, TGA, ICP-OES, particle size analysis).
- Prepare samples, collect data, and maintain accurate records in logbooks, batch documentation, and databases.
- Assist in electrode preparation and coin cell fabrication for electrochemical testing of cathode materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pilot plant and laboratory areas in line with 5S and safety standards.
- Follow Nano One safety policies and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of SOPs, safety protocols, and maintenance plans.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support scale-up and production objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar field or equivalent laboratory experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience with tools, laboratory apparatus, and analytical or process equipment.
- Familiarity with materials characterization (e.g. XRD, ICP-OES, TGA, PSD) is an asset but not required.
- Organized and detail-oriented individual with a focus on safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work late shifts as needed.

Compensation
$54,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
